Print Motivation

Print motivation is encouraging a child's interest in and enjoyment of books.

Children who enjoy books and reading will be curious about how to read.

They will want to read more.

  • Read together often, and make it fun.

  • Make sure you and your child are in a good mood and relaxed,
    so the experience is enjoyable

  • Stop reading when your child becomes fussy or loses interest

  • Choose books you enjoy - your child will respond to your enthusiasm

  • Choose books your child enjoys at their appropriate age level

  • Find books that spark your child's interests and share them often - repetition is wonderful!

  • Let your child choose the books

  • Keep the child involved while you are reading, ask questions and point out details

  • You don't need to read the book word for word or even in one sitting.
Make sharing books a fun, relaxed time together
