Songs and rhymes to share:
Watch
it Bloom
I Dig, Dig, Dig
Here is a
green leaf (hold out one palm) I dig, dig,
dig (pretend to dig)
And here is
a green leaf (hold out other palm) And I plant
some seeds (stoop down to plant)
That, you
see, makes two. I rake,
rake, rake (pretend to rake)
Here is a
bud (cup hands together) And I pull
some weeds (pull up weeds)
That makes
a flower I
wait and watch (hands on hips looking down)
Watch it
bloom for you! (slowly open hands) My garden
sprouts (hands low)
And starts to grow! (raise hands)
Five
Pretty Sunflowers
(hold up 5 fingers)
Five pretty
sunflowers standing in the sun
Now their
heads are nodding (bend fingers)
Five Little Peas
And bowing
one by one Five
little peas in a peapod pressed (make fist)
Down, down,
down, down One grew,
two grew and so did all the rest
Comes the
gentle
rain
(raise fingers one at a time)
(raise hands, then lower, wiggling fingers) They grew
and grew and did not stop
And the
five pretty
sunflowers
(stretch fingers wide)
Lift up
their heads again (raise up 5 fingers) Until one
day the pod went POP! (clap hands)
Five
Little Sunflowers
Planting Time
(to the tune of “Row Row Your Boat”)
Five little
sunflowers, growing in the ground Dig, dig, dig
the earth (pretend to dig)
(crouch
down)
Then you plant your seeds (pretend to plant)
Five little
sunflowers yellow and brown A gentle
rain (fingers flutter down)
The sun
began to shine - The rain began to fall The bright
sunshine (arms circle overhead)
(arms over
head - fingers flutter down) And
flowers you will see (open arms wide)
And the
five little sunflowers grew up tall
(pretend to
grow - stretch arms up)
Round the Garden
Round and round the garden (draw circle on tummy)
Dig a
Little Hole
Goes the teddy bear
Dig a
little hole (pretend to dig)
One step, two steps (walk fingers up chest)
Plant a
little seed (pretend to plant)
Tickle under there! (tickle neck)
Pour a
little water (pretend to water)
Round and round the garden (draw circle on tummy)
Pull a
little weed (pretend to weed) Goes
the little mouse
Chase a
little bug (shoo with hands) One
step, two steps (walk fingers up chest)
There he
goes! (wiggle fingers away) Into his
little house (tickle under arm)
Give a
little sunshine (arms circle overhead)
Grow a
little rose (pretend to hold flower to smell) Mr.
