Songs and rhymes
to share:
Five Little Ducks
Mr.
Duck and Mr. Turkey
5 little
ducks went out one day
Mr. Duck went out to walk (hold up thumb)
(hold up 5 fingers) One
day in pleasant weather
Over the hills and far away,
He met Mr. Turkey
along the way (hold up other thumb)
(arc hand up and over – shade eyes)
And there they talked together (hold thumbs next to each
other)
Mother (or Father) duck called
Gobble, gobble,
gobble (wiggle one thumb)
quack quack quack,
Quack,
quack, quack (wiggle other thumb)
(clap hands like a duck’s beak) Good
bye! (wiggle one thumb)
And 4 little ducks came waddling back.
Good bye!
(wiggle other thumb)
(hold up 4
fingers) And
they both walked back
(hide thumbs behind back)
Repeat with
…4 little ducks went out one day …
FIVE
LITTLE DUCKS
1 little duck went out one day
Five little ducks, that I once knew,
Over the hills and far away,
Fat ones, skinny ones, fair ones too
Mother (or Father) duck called
But the one little duck with a feather on his
back,
quack quack quack,
He
led the others with a quack, quack, quack.
But no little ducks came waddling back.
Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack,
Mother (or Father) duck went out one day
He led the others with a quack, quack, quack.
Over the hills and far away,
Mommy (daddy) duck called
Down to the
water, they would go,
QUACK! QUACK! QUACK!,
Wibblle,
wabble, wibble, wabble, to and fro.
(clap with whole
arm)
But the one little duck with a feather on his
back,
And 5 little ducks came waddling back.
He led the others with a
quack, quack, quack.
Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack,
He led the others with a quack, quack, quack
THE LITTLE WHITE DUCK
There’s a little white
duck Home
from the river they would come,
Sitting in the
water.
Wibblle, wabble, wibble, wabble, ho hum hum.
A little white
duck,
He led the others with a quack, quack, quack
Doing what he ought–ter.
Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack,
He took a bite of a lilly
pad.
He led the others with a quack, quack, quack
Flapped his wings
and he said,“I’m glad,
I’m a little white duck
Sitting in the water.”
Quack, Quack, Quack!
Goosey, goosey, gander
Goosey, goosey,
gander
Whither shall I wander,
Upstairs and downstairs
And in my lady’s chamber.
There I met an old man
Who would not say his prayers,
I took him by the left leg,
And threw him down the stairs!
OLD MOTHER GOOSE
Old
Mother Goose, when
She wanted to wander,
Would ride through the air
On a very fine gander.
Goosey,
goosey, gander
Counting Out
Rhyme
Goosey, goosey,
gander
Hinty, minty, cuty, corn, (clap to rhythm)
Whither shall I
wander,
Apple seed and apple thorn,
Upstairs and
downstairs
Wire, briar, limber lock
And in my lady’s
chamber.
Three geese in a flock. (hold up three fingers)
There I met an old
man One
flew east, and one flew west. (point to the right, then left)
Who would not say his
prayers, One flew over
the cuckoo's nest. (fly hand high right to left)
I took him by the left leg,
And threw him down the stairs!
Stretch, Stretch
Stretch, stretch away up high (reach arms up)
On your tiptoes, reach the sky. (stand on tiptoes)
See the bluebirds flying high. (wave
hands)
Now bend down and touch your toes. (bend and touch toes)
Now sway as the North Wind blows. (sway body
back and forth)
Waddle as the gander goes! (walk and waddle)
Rubber Duckie
Sung by Ernie (Jim Henson)
Written by Jeffrey Moss
Rubber Duckie, you're the one
You make bathtime lots of fun
Rubber Duckie, I'm awfully fond of you
(woh woh, bee doh!)
Rubber Duckie, joy of joys
When I squeeze you, you make noise!
Rubber Duckie, you're my very best friend, it's true!
(doo doo doo doooo, doo doo)
CHORUS:
Every day when I
Make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who's
Cute and yellow and chubby
(rub-a-dub-a-dubby!)
Rubber Duckie, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber duckie, I'm awfully fond of you
(repeat chorus)
Rubber Duckie, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber duckie, I'm awfully fond of
Rubber duckie, I'd like a whole pond of
Rubber duckie I'm awfully fond of you!
(doo doo, be doo)
