Songs and rhymes

Twinkling Stars
Wish on a Star
At night I
see the twinkling stars (wiggle fingers)
Star light star bright
And the great
big shining moon (arms circle overhead) First star I
see tonight
My mama tucks
me into bed (fists under chin) I wish I
may, I wish I might
And sings
this goodnight
tune Have the wish
I wish tonight
(sing Twinkle Twinkle)
Tiny Star
Twinkle
Twinkle Little Star
There’s a tiny little star
Twinkle
twinkle little
star
Way up in the sky (hold fist up)
How I wonder
what you are A
tiny little star
Up above the
world so high
Up so very high (raise fist higher)
Like a
diamond in the
sky
She twinkles brightly (open fist & wiggle fingers)
Twinkle
twinkle little
star
Through the night
How I wonder
what you are
But during the day
She’s out of sight (hide hand behind back)
The
Stars
I watch the
stars come out at night
Mister Sun
(look
up)
Oh Mister Sun, Sun, Mister golden Sun
I wonder
where they get their
light (arms
circle overhead)
(shrug
shoulders)
Please shine down on me
I don’t think
they’ll ever
fall
(tap chest with hands)
(shake head “no”)
Oh Mister
Sun, Sun, Mister golden Sun
So I’ll reach
up and pick them
all! (arms
circle overhead)
(pretend to pick stars from the
sky) Hiding behind a tree
(cover eyes)
Reach
for the stars
These little children are asking you
Bend and
stretch (bend
low) (point to
others)
Reach for the
stars (stretch high)
To please come out so we can play with you
Here comes
Jupiter (swing right arm to the
left) (clasp hands together)
There goes
Mars (swing left arm to the right) Oh
Mister Sun, Sun, Mister golden Sun
Bend and
stretch (bend low)
(arms circle
overhead)
Reach for the
sky (stretch high)
Please shine down on me
Stand on
tiptoe (stand on
toes) (tap chest with
hands)
Oh so
high! (reach to ceiling)
Star Chart for March
Please note that East and West are
NOT the "wrong way round"
if you hold the chart over your
head to correspond to the view of the sky.

Stars
Hey
diddle diddle
Over there the sun gets up, (Extend arm
horizontally.)
Hey diddle diddle,
the cat and the fiddle
And marches all the day. (Raise arm
slowly.)
The cow jumped
over the moon
At noon, it stands right overhead (Point straight
up.)
The little dog
laughed, to see such sport,
At night, it goes away. (Lower arm slowly and drop
down.)
And the dish ran away with the spoon
Moon Ride
The Man in the Moon
Do you want to go up with me to the moon?
The man in the moon looked out of the moon
(Point to friend, self, then to sky)
Looked out of the moon and said…
Let's get in our rocket ship and blast off soon!
‘Tis time for all good children on Earth
(
Pretend to climb in ship, swish hands quickly)
To think
about going to bed!
Faster and faster we reach to the sky (Jump
and reach)
Isn't it fun to be able to fly? (stretch arms out)
A riddle….
We're on the moon, now all take a look (Look
down)
Higher than a house,
higher than a tree
Sit back down, and I'll read you a book (All
sit down)
Oh whatever can that
be?…..a star!
