Songs and rhymes
to share:
It Smells Like
Thanksgiving
A Turkey
It smells like
Thanksgiving (close eyes and sniff)
I saw a turkey on Thanksgiving
(shade eyes with hand)
Like it should
His tail was spread so wide
(hands together fingers spread)
Turkey’s in the
oven
He said “shh don’t tell you’ve seen me”
(finger to lips)
Mmmmm! It smells
good (rub tummy)
For I’m running away to hide!
(run two fingers away)
It smells like
Thanksgiving (close eyes and sniff)
My oh my!
Our Thanksgiving Table
What’s in the
oven now?
Every day when we eat our dinner
It’s yummy
pumpkin pie! (rub tummy)
Our table is just this small
(hands close together)
But on Thanksgiving when company comes
Thanksgiving Day
(count on fingers)
It stretches to be this size! (open arms wide)
Five little
children on Thanksgiving Day
The first one
said “I’ll have cake if I may”
The Turkey
The second one
said “I’ll have turkey roasted”
The turkey is a silly bird
The third one
said “I’ll have chestnuts toasted”
His head goes wobble wobble
(nod head side to side)
The fourth one
said “I’ll have some pumpkin pie”
He only says just one word
The fifth one
said “cranberries I spy!”
Gobble ! Gobble! Gobble!
But before any
turkey or dressing
They all sat down
and said a blessing (fold hands)
Ten little Pilgrims (count on fingers)
One little , two little, three little pilgrims
Turkey and Gravy
(clap to rhythm)
Four little, five little, six little pilgrims
Turkey and gravy,
turkey and gravy
Seven little, eight little, nine little pilgrims
So good to eat!
Ten little pilgrims came to eat
Turkey and gravy,
turkey and gravy
Ten little, nine little, eight little pilgrims
What a wonderful
treat!
…one little pilgrim left to sleep
(pretend to sleep)
-repeat with-
sweet potatoes,
pumpkin pie,
Grandma’s Glasses
cranberries,
olives and pickles…
These are grandma’s glasses
(fingers around eyes)
This is grandma’s hat
(touch head)
Come a look a see
(count on fingers)
This is how she folds her hands and puts them in her lap
Come a look a see
here’s my mama
These are grandpa’s glasses
(fingers around eyes)
Come
a look a see here’s my papa
This is grandpa’s hat
(touch head)
Come a look
a see brother tall
This is how he folds his hands and takes a little nap (snore)
Sister, baby, we
love them all!
( interlace fingers - like a big hug!)
