Babytime     (Full)

Children from birth to 23 months and their caregivers are invited to participate in this lapsit program of rhymes, songs, lap games, baby sign language, stories, music, puppetry, interactive activities (playing with scarves, bubbles, etc.), and book sharing time. This program emphasizes early literacy skills and  is a great way to meet other new parents.

 

Young Family Storytime

This story program is for children of all ages (birth—age 5) and a caregiver with an emphasis on on stories and activities for toddlers. It enables families with more than one young child to attend storytime at the same time. Each week we may have stories, songs, rhymes, puppetry, movement and imagination activities, book sharing time, and a marching rhythm band parade.  This program emphasizes early literacy skills and is a great way to meet other families with young children.

Preschool Storytime
 

for preschool age children, not yet enrolled in kindergarten

Children ages 3-5 (not yet enrolled in kindergarten) attend this story program
on their own
. It includes stories, songs, rhymes, a craft, and a marching rhythm band parade each week. Children must be able to sit quietly without disturbing others in the group and should be able to follow simple directions for the craft. Children are introduced to new authors and illustrators and develops, literacy skills, listening, thinking, participation, and social skills.

The Reading Patch  Club

Once a month on Monday evenings 7:00-7:45 pm

A reader’s club for children in grades 1-5 who are reading on their own -  Children keep track of their reading at home and earn incentives and prizes during the school year.  Monthly activity nights include storytelling, crafts, and games. 
 
Pick up your reading log at the children's desk starting Monday, August 23.

A monthly activity club exclusively for teens and tweens in grades 5-10.  No younger siblings please. 

Please note:  Perry schools no longer offer transportation to the library from school.

Once a month on Saturdays

Call 259-3300 or stop in the library to register

Please register in advance to reserve your time slot starting August 23rd.

Dogs can’t read, but they can be great listeners…

Children are invited to read aloud to a friendly, gentle dog who is licensed and trained to be a good listener. The dogs’ handlers sit nearby to help ease the interaction. Reading to one of our furry friends helps to improve children's reading skills and their self-esteem.

Open to any child in grades K-8

Each child will receive a souvenir photo and a free book to take home.

Drop-ins are welcome if time slots are available 

Participants may register for one 15 minute time slot each session. Additional sessions will be held in the spring.  The program is free and open to anyone.
